Nollywood actor and producer, Femi Adebayo, is basking in excitement and gratitude as his blockbuster movie, Jagun Jagun, swept the floor at the 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards.
The star-studded event, held on Sunday, November 24th, at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara, was an unforgettable night, as Femi’s epic Yoruba-language film stole the spotlight at the awards ceremony.
The 16th edition of BON Awards was hosted by Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi. Celebrities like Binta Ayo-Mogaji, Kazeem Adeoti, Mercy Aigbe-Adeoti, Femi Adebayo, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Biola Adebayo, and Foluke Daramola, Bimbo Manuel, Keppy Ekpeyong, Wole Ojo, Segun Arinze, Feyikemi Olayinka, Aishat Lawal, Sodiq Adebayo, Alariya, Hilda Dokubo, Fred Amata, and others, graced the event with their stunning outfits.
At the award ceremony, Femi Adebayo’s ‘Jagun Jagun’ won a total of six award categories, which include “Best Actor”, “Best Costume”, “Best Indigenous Film”, “Best Production Design,” and “Best Special Effect.” The movie also won the “Best director” category, awarded to Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo.

It is worth noting that ‘Jagun Jagun’ was nominated in 12 categories. The Netflix original Yoruba film, released in August 2023, portrays the life of a revered warlord whose influence extends beyond his community. However, the arrival of a young man exposes his hidden insecurities, as he begins to fear that his authority might be challenged and overthrown.

Other big winners of the night include the film ‘Momiwa’ for ‘Best Screenplay’ and ‘Best Editing’. Kanayo O. Kanayo also won a lifetime achievement award presented by the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman, and the DG National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, Aare Abisoye Fagade. ‘Unknown Soja’ also won the ‘Best Actress’ and ‘Best Child Actress’ categories.
