A graduate of the University of Derby has made Nigerians proud after exchanging a chieftaincy handshake with the school official during his graduation ceremony.
In the video that @lashedinderby uploaded to TikTok, the man was seen holding a chieftaincy staff while wearing an Isiagu shirt and a red cap, which are prestigious Igbo garments.
In an attempt to congratulate him when he got his degree, the school official gave him a casual shake. Nevertheless, the man calmly disregarded it and opted for the cultural chief handshake due to his chieftaincy title.
The Igbo graduate tapped the back of the school official palm thrice before giving a genuine shake and elevating their hands.
The crowd erupted in a loud celebration during the traditional handshake on stage, because the man demonstrated that he was a titled chief who takes pride in his culture.
The video has generated positive reactions online with some commending the man for demonstrating the Nigerian culture while others affirmed education has no age limit.
