Music executive, Don Jazzy has revealed how he uses controversial singer, Portable and not Buju to train his artistes.
In an interview with Joey Akan, the Mavins founder noted how Portable’s controversial lifestyle has kept in the spotlight, unlike, Buju, who despite his talent doesn’t receive publicity like Portable.
To further proved his point, he pointed out how Portable, who has been in the spotlight for 1year already has a million IG followers, while Buju is still struggling with followers.
Going digital, he added that algorithms would continue to favor Portable than Buju, because he keeps many entertained.
The influential music executive stated that he continues to ring it into his artistes like Rema and Ayra Starr’s head, to follow Portable’s strategy.
How Don Jazzy trains his signees using Portable
In a nutshell, he teaches his signees to always make headlines rather form status.
Who knows? This could be the reason why Ayra Starr is fond of making headlines for her skimpy outfits.
No wonder the saying, no publicity (whether negative or positive) is useless.
“I was looking at some stars on social media when somebody like Zazuu came out.
There is Buju who is a fantastic musician but the time that Zazuu came out he got 1million followers faster that Buju, that had 7 number 1 in the year before. Though I am not saying Instagram followers count.
Buju is talented but because Zazuu is entertaining and God really favored him, and with the help of celebrities, he got to be in the spotlight. And he was like, I am not going anywhere.
I use him as an example to my artistes, if you sit down and be forming algorithm will leave you and go to where is pumping. Algorithm goes to where the attention is”.
We hope Don Jazzy’s comparison doesn’t create beef with Portable and Buju.
Portable shades Buju
Recall that Portable had blasted Smooth Productions, the organisers of popular Nigerian music awards, The Headies.
This came after the 15th Headies Award was held successfully in Atlanta, USA which saw Nektunez and Goya Menor winning the Best Street-Hop song award which earlier had Portable as part of the contenders.
During a life session with his fans on Instagram, the artiste addressed his beef with the Headies organisers.
Portable acknowledged that he is human and not perfect. He added that he had been hurt a lot of times in his life he also blasted the winner of the Next rated award category.
Portable wrote: “I Love It When Life Hard It Means Something Better Is Coming Nothing Pass GOD. I am bigger than the owner of Headies and the entire organizers. I will be more popular than them forever.”
Also attacking Buju BNXN for winning the next rated award, Portable argued that his songs are more popular than that of Buju. He further insisted that he is well known in the streets and also the highest paid artiste in the trenches. He added that he earns over N4m per show in the trenches.
